, whether they actually believe there's a moral equivalency there or they don't and they're using it for political purposes. either way, whichever it is, this is not just bad domestic politics for the president, and it is and they know it, for a variety of reasons, including it takes him off the economy and divides him from democrats, which is a big problem on a range of issues, but i almost resist talking about this as a political issue. this is a national security crisis. both of these issues are. you have general petraeus getting involved in a domestic matter of the first amendment issue shows the extraordinary extent to which people in the military are -- men and women overseas think this is a big enough deal, and to have it to be brought into domestic politics and inflamed by republicans, again, out of principle, maybe, out of political purposes maybe, whatever the reason is really a national and international tragedy. and unfortunately the president, for a variety of reasons, is too weak on his own to deal with it. >> i think you're right. howard? >> well, sitting in the pre

to the town. describe to us what you have seen. >> people really are here with hair on their arms burned off and intense wall of heat. everyone was running for their cars and out in the streets to get a source for the fire that quickly spread. it was difficult to outrun and many people jumped in their cars and barely made it out in the nick of time. no one has been able to go back into the blast zone and everyone is unsure who made it out, who didn't make it out. there really is a bunch of confusion. folks are trying to look for answers and they are hoping to get that at the press conference that should start in a few minutes. >> miguel, thank you so much. we want to let people know we will take that news conference live when it happens. >>> florida pastor terry jones has issued a new ultimatum and the clock is ticking, literally. the man at the center of the new york mosque controversy, imam feisal was told to call them and let them know whether or not the proposed cultural center will be moved further from ground zero. here's what had he to say. >> it's crystal clear. it's 1:20 right now a

lie to me. >> that's a hard thing to put together. we're used to dealing in objective facts. how do you get the facts from a guy, pastor jones who won't even say who this man is who he talked to? who is this man who may have tricked him? >> i take it was is the imam from central florida, muhammad musry he was meeting with. but i asked him, like who were you on the phone with? no names. look, doesn't it fit in many ways the way much of this has played out in terms of i had a very long interview with pastor jones and tried to get to some very specifics with him why he wanted to burn the koran. what specifically was in the koran that was most offensive to him. and he hadn't even read the koran. he basically admitted maybe he had looked at a page but primary what he said was there's no mention of jesus christ in the koran as the savior. anybody who understands religions understands that would not be in there in the same way it's not in the tora. i said are you going to start burning the tora, he said no. a lot of this has been very confusing in terms of why he said he was doing this and
